Faculty of Applied Studies was founded by merging of three faculties: Faculty of Socio-Economics, Faculty of Technology, and Faculty Health and Tourism. The new superior unit coordinates education on all study programmes offered by University of Economy.

The faculty conducts intensive actions in the area of science and research by e.g. organizing conferences and seminars at the university. In cooperation with other Higher Education Institutions in Bydgoszcz, the university organizes Bydgoszcz Science Festival that includes many scientific and para-scientific events.

Research activities conducted by the faculty are funded by University of Economy (The University Research Fund), funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, governments agencies, and funds raised from European Union and other domestic and foreign institutions.

The Faculty of Applied Studies is located at 2 Garbary Street in Bydgoszcz. The campus area consists of 13 buildings, 2 well-equipped computer labs and 90 classrooms, library, modern sports hall, astronomical observatory, kayaking dock, Museum of Photography and arboretum with geological display. The total area of the complex is more than 8.5 ha.
